Bunny Trails: A Word History Podcast
Season 9 Trailer
Record Date: January 5, 2026
Air Date: January 8, 2026

Dan:
Welcome to Bunny Trails, a whimsical adventure of idioms and other turns of phrase. I’m Dan Pugh.

Shauna:
And I’m Shauna Harrison. For 8 years and over 300 episodes you have joined almost every Wednesday as we take an idiom or other turn of phrase and try to tell the story from its entry into the English language, to how it’s used today.

Dan:
We absolutely would not still be doing this show if it weren’t for our amazing Patrons. We decided many years ago to not run ads and instead rely on our audience to help cover the costs of the show. That includes our hosting service, Libsyn, our equipment by Rode, Sure, Audiotechinca, and a few others, as well as the subscriptions to services like the Oxford English Dictionary, The British Archives, Newspaper Archive, and others.

Shauna:
But our Patrons like Pat Rowe, JGP, and Mary Halsig Lopez have come through time and time again to ensure the show continues to explore all the interesting phrases the English language has to offer.

Dan:
This season we will be changing things up a bit. Some of the phrases we want to cover are relatively new, and they don’t line up well with our existing format of “historical references followed by modern uses”. So we are going to experiment with some shorter episodes, what they call in the business a “tight 10”, in addition to the 30 minute episodes you know and love. We are planning to do one or two of the shorter episodes per month to allow us to cover some English phrases that have joined the lexicon since the world war 2 era.

Shauna:
Thanks again to our Patrons, and to all of you for listening. If you are interested in checking out the Patreon community with our book reviews, weekly polls, and more, just go to patreon.com/bunnytrailspod .
And best of all, it’s free to join!

Dan:
Thank you for joining us. We’ll talk to you again next week to kick off
Season 9. Until then remember,

Together:
Words belong to their users.
